Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a systemic approach for uncovering potential problems in the design and production processes of precuts and services. A failure mode is the way something may break down and stop to work. A failure is an error or a defect, especially one that affects the customer, an existing one or a prospect.

The Analysis of Effects means studying the consequences of the defects. Failures are prioritized in terms of their severity, rate of occurrence, and how easily they can be detected. The objective of FMEA is to apply preventive measures and reduce the number of failures. Everything is documented and then used for the purposes of continuous improvement.

FMEA is useful in a whole range of company functions: design, production, quality control, testing, reliability, maintenance, purchasing, supply, sales, marketing, and customer service. Ideally, FMEA begins at the stage of conceptual design and continues throughout the product or service life-cycle.

This course gives you more than the standard FMEA training. Through examples and case studies from various industries, the training takes you on a step-by-step journey through the stages of the analytical process and shows you the real tools for the main FMEA formats.

But the course does not end there. The training provides practical guidance on effective teamwork, introduces you to the subtleties of FMEA auxiliary techniques and tools, such as Fault Tree Analysis and QFD, and presents, in a concise and intelligible manner, the alternative methods of Criticality Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
