Applying the Kanban Method

Kanban is an inventory control system used in just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing. Kanban makes processes more efficient and minimizes the risk of unforeseen problems. The results of its successful implementation are reduced costs and satisfied customers.
One of the main purposes of Kanban is to limit the accumulation of excess inventory at various points in the production line. With Kanban, problems can be caught early and the company can adapt before inefficiencies lead to a serious problem.
Kanban supply planners use the same information as their counterparts using material resource planning (MRP) regarding the parameters of each part. But Kanban takes control by triggering purchase orders and replenishment in accordance with actual demand. Kanban is a control system where the output determines the input.
The course presents a road map for easy implementation of Kanban that will immediately improve your supply chain management. It examines the vital concepts for implementing Kanban, explains how they can be put into practice, and presents key takeaways for maintaining the system and improving its effectiveness.
The course also examines three alternative input-output control systems ConWIP, POLCA and COBACABANA. These have a lot in common with Kanban, but also their specific differences, mostly in the way they align production input and output. The course clarifies these features in comparative terms, as well as the specific applications of these alternative systems.

The knowledge and skills to implement Kanban and the related methods are of high practical value and return. Companies that implement Kanban are known to enjoy a number of benefits, such as accelerated production, reduced inventory costs, accelerated capital turnover, improved risk assessment, preemptive disbursement, increased quality, minimal waste, reduced prices, accelerated processes and orders.
